This is definitely not an arts and crafts blog. But today, we are getting in touch with our craftier sides. Why, because a Thanksgiving activity that gets the whole family talking about gratitude is worth the time. Not that this one will take you long.
As I have talked about before, adopting a gratitude practice has been a game changer for me. The more I focus on gratitude, the less I focus on what I wish were different, my worries, and the future. Because gratitude roots me firmly in today and helps me enjoy the present more.
So naturally, one thing I love about November is that it’s the month of gratitude. Like literally. It’s National Gratitude Month.
And I’m always looking for ways to rope my family into a gratitude practice. That’s why every Thanksgiving, I make our family write 3 things they are thankful for on a tablecloth I bought years ago. It is something I treasure re-reading each year.
So when I thought of this craft that focused on gratitude, that used supplies I already had, and was probably something I could talk everyone into doing, I knew I’d found a winner.

Gratitude Placemats: A Thanksgiving Activity
Supplies List:
- Paper- construction, scrapbook, printer, etc
- Printer
- Laminator
STEP 1: Choose your paper. Make it as fancy or as simple as you’d like.
STEP 2: Print out leaf design on paper. To save you time, I created a leaf pattern that you can use.
STEP 3: Give family members a copy to fill in throughout the month of November.
STEP 4: Laminate them and use as placemats for Thanksgiving dinner.
How easy is that?
Now, if your family hasn’t done a Thanksgiving activity like this before, they may have some trouble thinking of ideas to fill up their leaves. So here are a few ideas to help kids and husbands get into a gratitude mindset:
Questions to Help Your Kids Express Gratitude
