“In the chaos of everyday life, it’s easy to lose sight of what really matters, and I can use my habits to make sure that my life reflects my values.” Gretchen Rubin, Better than Before
We all have habits, both good and bad.
Brushing your teeth, watching This is Us on Tuesday nights and checking email as soon as you wake up are all habits.
And we are creatures of habit.
We complete our habits without thinking, which is why they are so powerful.
Good habits add up to a better life, while bad habits, over time, hurt your life.
In September, I completed Money Saving Mom’s Make Over Your Mornings course and decided to test a few morning habits. I wrote my habit list down on an index card and put it on my nightstand. Unfortunately, my daughter found it and lost it. #toddlers
So, I needed a new and improved way to document my morning habits, and that’s when I decided on a habit tracker.
I found this printable tracker from Kimi Was Here and used it for October and November with great success.
I also decided to add a couple of simple habits for evening and a couple habits for daytime. Here is my example of the habits I track:
If you prefer tracking your habits digitally, here are two apps that I read great reviews about:
- Strides– Michael Hyatt recommended this app, along with six others that will help you build new habits.
- Productive– I have personally tried this app and found it attractive and easy to use. The only reason I stopped using it was because I prefer a paper tracking system.
Using a habit tracker is very motivating.
On several occasions, I have glanced at the tracker in the evening and been motivated to plan the following day or do a quick core workout just to mark it on my tracker.
Have you ever tried using a habit tracker? If so, what kind did you use? An app, a printable or a page in your planner?
